Ontario Students

Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) regulations require that you present your health card at every visit. Students without valid health insurance will be responsible for paying directly for medical services. To obtain information on Ontario Health Insurance coverage, call (905) 521-7100

Out of Province Students

Please present your provincial health insurance card. All provinces have a reciprocal agreement in place. Quebec students will be asked to fill out a claim form.

International Students

International students and their families who are not eligible for Provincial Health Insurance may apply for UHIP. For further information contact the INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OFFICE, Gilmour Hall, Room 104, ext. 24748 or visit their webpage on UHIP.

Extended Health Plans

McMaster Students Union provides benefits for all full-time undergraduate students (minimum 18 units of academic study) under the MSU Health Insurance Plan.  This includes reimbursement for prescription medications, eyeglass breakage, vision care, accidental death and dismemberment, and more.  You are also covered by the MSU Student Dental Insurance Plan.  The details can be found at the MSU website.

  • Naturopathic Medicine (Naturopathy) services are partially covered (80%, up to $300) on the MSU Health Insurance Plan

 

Student Health Services – Fee (covered in tuition)

This fund allows many of the Student Wellness Centre services to be available that are not covered under Provincial Health plans or Extended Health Insurance Plans (ie. MSU Health Plan). Some of these services include but are not limited to: Counselling, Group Programs, Wellness Programs, Wellness resources

 

Uninsured Service Fees

Uninsured Services are those that are not covered by the Provincial Health Insurance Plan or the MSU Plan and must be paid directly by the student.

Immunization Form when NOT required for academic purposes. $30.00

Immunization Form when required for academic purposes and is not a McMaster form (cost per form). $10.00

Form completion for Physical Assessment. $100.00

Form completion when no assessment is required. $30.00

No Show – Family Physician/Nurse Appointment – failure to provide 12 business hours cancellation notice for visits of:

  • 10 minutes —- $30.00
  • 20 minutes or longer —- $50.00

No Show – Counsellor Appointment– failure to provide 12 business hours cancellation notice for visits of:

  • 30 minutes or longer —- $50.00

No Show – Psychiatrist Appointment– failure to provide 12 business hours cancellation notice for visit of:

  • 30 minutes —- $50.00
  • 1 hour —- $100.00

Wart Treatment – NON plantar wart. $20.00

Prescription for travel $20.00

Phone/fax requests for prescription renewal – to pharmacy as requested by student. $15.00

Crutches $30.00
