#SexTalkTuesday – Winter 2026 Recap

Each week, we answered sexual health questions submitted by McMaster students through Instagram posts, reels, stories, and Wellness@Mac articles.

This term, we explored sexual anatomy, gender and sexuality, and where to find sexual health and sexual violence support on campus. We also dove into contraception and navigating unexpected pregnancy scares.
Sexual Anatomy Posts: Part 1 and Part 2
Not all bodies are the same, and that’s what makes us unique! 🌟
Understanding sexual anatomy supports education, empowerment, and informed care. These posts explore male and female internal and external anatomy, along with what it means to be intersex.
Every body is unique, and understanding these variations can help build self-awareness and confidence.
Sexual Violence Support
There is no one right way to reach out for support. 🌿
If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, there are on-campus services and supports, counselling options, and confidential phone lines available to all McMaster students.
You are not alone!
Birth Control Post
From hormonal methods such as the pill, patch, and implant to non-hormonal ones such as condoms, the copper IUD, and even natural alternatives—there are many ways to protect yourself and prevent unplanned pregnancies. 🌸 Learn about the 4 different types of contraception and where you can access safer sex supplies on campus!
Being informed and prepared helps you take care of your sexual health. 🤍
Pregnancy Options and Dealing with Pregnancy Scares
Big decisions start with small steps. 🌸 Navigating a potential pregnancy can feel overwhelming but understanding your options and knowing where to find support can help you make informed decisions.
This week’s post guides you through your options, provides tips for managing a pregnancy scare, and shares resources—including faith-based support.
Birth Control Myth Busters Post
Curious about what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to birth control? Let’s find out! 💡
From safety and effectiveness to long-term use and fertility considerations, this week’s post shares evidence-based information to help you make informed decisions about your sexual health.
Birth Control Video
Ever wonder how birth control affects mental health? 💬 Hormonal methods, such as oral contraceptives, can affect sleep, mood, libido, and mental wellness—and these effects vary for everyone. 💊
Listen to McMaster students share their personal experiences, and remember support is always available if you need it!
Pornography Addiction Post
Pornography addiction is real, often misunderstood, and can have significant impacts on mental health, confidence, and relationships. For some, it can lead to feelings of shame, isolation, or a loss of control, and may create unrealistic expectations about sex.
If you or someone you know is struggling, know that recovery is possible and support is available! The SWC offers confidential counselling, resources, and support to help you navigate these challenges.
Navigating Male Insecurities Post
Many men experience insecurities that often go unspoken, including concerns about body image, performance, and expressing emotions. External pressures from social media, gym culture, and traditional ideas of masculinity can intensify these feelings, affecting confidence, mental health, and relationships.
This week’s post looks at these challenges and shares ways to build self-awareness, communicate more openly, and strengthen relationships with others. Let’s break the stigma and start the conversation! 💙
Gender and Sexuality Post
Gender and sex are complex concepts shaped by society and culture over time. They exist on a spectrum, and understanding them means moving beyond rigid, binary definitions. This week’s post explores sex, gender, and sexuality; why these topics matter in everyday life; and how understanding them can help foster more inclusive and supportive spaces for everyone.
Reflect, learn, and share—together we can create more supportive communities. 🌿
SWC Sexual Health Services Post
