Sexual and Reproductive Health Services

Program Types: Drop-in, Physical Health, and Sexual Health.

Student Wellness Centre 

At the SWC, you can book a confidential appointment with a medical professional to access the following: 

  • STI Testing & Treatment. Testing could involve urine, blood or swab testing. 
  • Several tests, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, can be done with or without a genital examination. Self-collected swabs may be an option for patients who feel more comfortable collecting their own sample in a private setting.  
  • HPV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis A Vaccination 
  • Vaccines are available at no cost (based on eligibility or often covered through drug plan) 
  • HIV Testing, PreP and PeP 
  • Cervical Screening (HPV Test has replaced pap tests) 
  • Birth control consultation and prescription – Based on personal needs and current health status for birth control such as pregnancy prevention, menstrual pain, gender-affirming care. 
  • IUDs 
  • Implants 
  • Oral contraceptives 
  • Pregnancy options  
  • Emergency contraception (e.g. Plan B, Ella) 
  • Menstrual concerns 
  • Mental Health support 
  • Free Condoms – Access condoms in the Wellness Lounge (PGCLL 201) near the front door. Condoms are also available during appointments in various locations around the clinic
  • Gender Affirming Care – Support is available for hormone therapy, surgery referrals, counselling, navigating name or gender marker changes, and other support/connection. More information available on our Gender Affirming Care site. 

I’m Ready – HIV Test Pick-up Location  

    • I’m Ready to Know is a national project that is implementing, scaling-up and evaluating low-barrier options for access to HIV self-testing. We want to reach the undiagnosed and give people choices about how to connect to the care they need.  
    • The Student Wellness Centre is an I’m Ready pickup location for the INSTI HIV and OraQuick self-tests. For more information and to access testing visit readytoknow.ca 

GetaKit 

For testing options that are off-campus in Hamilton or various other public health units across Ontario. Test requisitions are mailed or available online. Some tests are performed at a local lab using your health insurance card (e.g. OHIP, UHIP, IFH, NHIB, private or military coverage).
